Water Activities

Waupaca’s chain of 22 connected lakes, the “Chain O’Lakes,” is the centerpiece of this popular community. Swimming, boating, water-skiing, canoeing, sailboarding and fishing are all popular activities on the Chain’s 728 acres. So are ice skating and ice fishing. Other popular spots include the Crystal and Waupaca Rivers, Shadow, Spencer and Stratton Lakes.

There are public boat landings on the Chain and on Shadow Lake. Boats can be rented from Becker Marine, (715) 258-9015; Chain O’Lakes Marine, (715) 258-8840 and  Ding’s Dock, (715) 258-2612.  Public beaches are located at South Park and Hartman Creek State Park.

The public beach features a raft, diving board, slides and on-site lifeguards.  Be sure to listen for the ice cream truck music as it stops regularly at South Park.

Entrance to this state park requires an entrance fee.  The sandy beach is 300 feet long.  The area has picnic areas and some shade.  Pets are prohibited on the beach, but can remain in specified areas.
