The Waupaca area offers some of the finest and most diverse recreational opportunities in the United States. There are literally hundreds of things to do and see in the area. With so many types of natural wonders available, the area is the ideal place for nearly unlimited fun and interesting activities. The Waupaca Rec Center offers many recreation opportunities for youth and adult. Volley ball, basketball, health & fitness classes, and much more. Contact the Rec office for more information. 715-258-4435.

Why Not Rent the Recreation Center?
Many people find the Rec Center a GREAT place to have a birthday party, baby shower or family holiday gathering. Traveling sports teams enjoy the benefits of renting the gym for their teams. During the winter months space fills up fast, so please call and find out if a date is available, then simply stop down to reserve your date. Payment is required at time of rental. Bike Trails

Ice Age Trail

As the colossal glacier retreated from Wisconsin, it left behind a variety of unique landscape features.  The thousand-mile Ice Age Trail, one of eleven National Scenic Trails, highlights these features while providing access to some of the state's most beautiful natural areas.  The Ice Age Trail is suitable for walking, hiking, backpacking and snowshoeing over a wide range of distances and landscapes.

Hartman Creek State Park

Hartman Creek State Park  is located a few miles outside Waupaca and has both a family and group campground.   The family campground has 79 reservable sites and 22 sites are first-come, first-served.  It has two shower and flush toilet buildings.  Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring.  Hartman Creek State Park has 10 miles of hiking trails; a playground; a 7.5 mile equestrian trail; a 300-foot long sand beach and swimming area; fishing; both on and off-road biking trails. To make reservations call 1.888.WI.PARKS (1.888.947.2757) or go to www.wiparks.net.

Waupaca County has 240 lakes, 79 rivers and streams and 35 trout streams. Fish species present include:  bluegill, bass, Northern pike, walleye, muskie, crappie, sunfish, perch, and trout. River Ridge Trail

The River Ridge Trail is part of a plan to preserve urban natural areas or “green space” in a non-motorized trail system that winds throughout the Waupaca area.  There are 11 miles of trails within the city limits and a street route of 12 miles is also designated with River Ridge trail signs to connect these off road sections.  Maps are available at Waupaca City Parks or online at www.cityofwaupaca.org

Parks

The Waupaca Parks and Recreation Department has set up a system whereby individuals and groups can reserve the  shelters, ball fields, and some equipment. Reservations are taken on a first come first serve basis, beginning the first working day in January. Please keep in mind that a certain number of days have been set aside for community events. You must register in person, no phone registrations will be accepted. The fee and deposit must be paid at the time of reserving the facility.
